Dark Ambrosia
Biologically speaking, the feeling of Love
mounts to no more than chemical reaction,
And is equally achieved, in moments alone,
with indulgence of a favorite dietetic infraction.
Consumption of copious measures of chocolate
creates a sensation of euphoria
Giving the user such gratification
as to closely mimic Love’s phantasmagoria.
Hence, feeding one’s yen for emotional fulfillment
need not entail romantic oppression;
For all the pleasure—and nominal guilt—
merely requires caloric indiscretion.
But heed this caveat, those who would imbibe
of this alternative to carnal depravity:
Unfettered love could lead to heartache—
but too much chocolate might result in a cavity.
